Tooth Extractions in Helena, MT

At Melton Dental, Dr. Sean Melton is committed to preserving natural teeth whenever possible, but there are instances where tooth extraction becomes necessary. A simple extraction is performed on teeth that are visible above the gumline, typically due to decay or damage beyond repair. Conversely, surgical extraction is required for teeth that have not yet emerged through the gums, such as wisdom teeth or impacted teeth with insufficient space in the mouth. Regardless of the extraction type, our team at Melton Dental in Helena, MT provides top-notch care. We offer various sedation options, including nitrous oxide and oral-conscious sedation, to ensure your comfort throughout the procedure. Contact us to find out more or to arrange a consultation with Dr. Melton to improve your dental health.

Dental extractions are done in our office with local anesthesia on the area near the tooth being removed. Other kinds of sedation might be used based on the extent of the procedure and to help keep you relaxed in case you have some dental anxieties. As soon as you are ready, Dr. Melton will begin the procedure. In a simple extraction, Dr. Melton will loosen up the tooth with a special device known as an elevator before removal. A surgical extraction involves making incisions into your gums to get to the tooth. If needed, the tooth might be broken up into smaller pieces so it can be taken out. Once the tooth has been removed, Dr. Melton will stitch the incision in the gums. Dr. Melton may write a prescription for antibiotics that need to be taken before and after the operation — in case you have a current illness, if your immune system is compromised, if the procedure is extended, or if you have some other special health problems.

Though some Helena, MT individuals might prefer to put off or avoid tooth extractions, getting these treatments done at Melton Dental immediately following diagnosis may offer a number of oral health advantages:

  • Creates room for dental implants to restore the look and function of the lost tooth
  • Avoids damage and decay in healthy surrounding teeth
  • Carried out utilizing a local anesthetic to numb the area and keep you as comfortable as possible
  • Fairly simple procedure that takes place in-office
  • Can work to stop the spread of infection

Sean is very good, and he surrounds himself with classy assistants. He will work with his clients on challenging needs and is totally fair.

My first visit and what a great experience; despite the complexity of enhancing my smile and being in the chair 2 1/2 hours! Dr Melton snd his staff are top shelf. Professional, knowledgeable, and courteous. I’ll post before and after photos when my dental work is complete.

This was the best customer service I have ever had! My son was getting senior pictures this weekend and was supposed to get teeth whitened Friday. A staff member got sick so need to reschedule, but Dr. Melton called a staff member (Lenny (who was amazing)) see if there was anyway someone could come in on Saturday. They came in on their day off to whiten my sons' teeth! She was so kind, excellent customer service, made us feel welcome! We will be back, and I would highly recommend them to anyone! Thank you, Melton Dental!
