Night Guards in Helena, MT

The grinding of your teeth at night, also known as bruxism, is a common problem that affects many men and women. While the most prominent indicator is deterioration of the surface of the teeth, nocturnal bruxism might also lead to inflammation, headaches, and tooth pain, plus discomfort in your jaw and neck. To protect your mouth against the effects of bruxism, Dr. Sean Melton offers customized night guards that help defend your teeth while you sleep. Custom night guards are created with top-quality materials to fit comfortably in your mouth and help improve the nature of your sleep by reducing jaw clenching and teeth grinding. To learn more about custom night guards at Melton Dental, set up a consultation at our Helena, MT facility.

After Dr. Melton makes your bruxism diagnosis, he will obtain impressions and digital x-rays of your mouth so your custom night guard can be created. Next, he will send your information to a dental laboratory where your night guard will be created from the best materials. When your night guard is sent back to our office, you will return to our office for a fitting. Dr. Melton might make minor adjustments so your night guard fits comfortably. My first visit and what a great experience; despite the complexity of enhancing my smile and being in the chair 2 1/2 hours! Dr Melton snd his staff are top shelf. Professional, knowledgeable, and courteous. I’ll post before and after photos when my dental work is complete.

This was the best customer service I have ever had! My son was getting senior pictures this weekend and was supposed to get teeth whitened Friday. A staff member got sick so need to reschedule, but Dr. Melton called a staff member (Lenny (who was amazing)) see if there was anyway someone could come in on Saturday. They came in on their day off to whiten my sons' teeth! She was so kind, excellent customer service, made us feel welcome! We will be back, and I would highly recommend them to anyone! Thank you, Melton Dental!

Why are night guards primarily used?

Night guards are often used for people with bruxism (teeth grinding at night) to protect the teeth and prevent issues such as headaches, pain, wear and tear on the teeth, and more. They may also be suggested for individuals with TMJ (temporomandibular joint) dysfunction to alleviate jaw pain.

How do I know if I need an upper or lower guard?

Typically, we suggest mouth guards for the upper jaw of our Helena, MT patients. These guards won't interfere with your tongue or lower jaw. If you have dental restorations on your bottom jaw, however, we may suggest lower night guards.

How long will my night guard last?

Your night guard will last, depending on the type of material used to create your mouth guard. In general, you can expect your night guard to last around five years. It's important to care for your night guard properly and to bring it to your routine dental appointments so we can help your night guard last as long as possible.

Teeth grinding can cause discomfort and pain in a variety of ways. Night guards are a safe option to lessen the sleepless nights created by the negative symptoms of jaw clenching and teeth grinding. Custom night guards from Melton Dental can also improve the overall health of your mouth and deter future complications.
